Hi everyone! My last update post was on August 23, but the patches have kept coming. A lot of this work started with your feedback, so thank you to everyone who reported a problem or suggested an improvement. Here’s what’s changed since then. “EASY” SHOULD ACTUALLY FEEL EASY Some of you reported a huge jump between Beginner and Easy, especially in tournaments. You were right: opponents could play much stronger than their difficulty label suggested. • Tournament and Elimination opponents now better match the intended difficulty and use their own character’s playing style and strength. • Tournament brackets now start with weaker opponents and build toward tougher matches. • League opponents have been adjusted so their strength better matches their displayed rating. • Campaign bosses now use opponents appropriate to the chapter and your level, with their name and rating shown before the match. ADJUSTABLE PIECE SIZE AND MORE CONSISTENT CUSTOMIZATION You can now adjust piece size independently of board size in Settings > Display, with a live preview and a reset button. As always I'm a bit late, but here is everything that got changed since the last patch and my new game announcement! PerformanceThe stutter while you move pieces is gone. Two heavy jobs were running on the same thread that draws the board: the opening book was being rebuilt and copied twice per move pair, and every animation and move list update forced a full page layout. Across a typical match that added up to more than a second of freezing. On the same test match afterwards: long tasks went from 5 (1154ms total, worst 335ms) to zero, the worst frame from 341.8ms to 41.6ms, hitches over 100ms from 5 to zero, and average FPS from 90.4 to 115.0.The main menu no longer crawls after you finish a game. Background position analysis kept grinding away after the game had ended, so the post game screen and the main menu could fall to roughly 10 FPS, and sometimes 3 or 4, until you restarted.Faster launch on Steam Deck and SteamOS. Optional data loading was competing with startup on the Deck's slower CPU, and launch showed a white page for several seconds before the loading screen appeared.The download is smaller. This update improves UI scaling and windowed mode support, especially on smaller resolutions. Menus and game screens have been adjusted so important buttons and information stay reachable instead of being cut off.This patch was made because of player feedback and refund reasons mentioning that the interface could not scale properly or was not fully visible. Even though I would prefer everyone to give the feedback before refund :D It's was still genuinely valuable and helped make Chess Kingdom better.Thanks to everyone who takes the time to report what is not working.
