Hidden Folks

Hey folks! Adriaan typing here, on this wholesome day!Hidden Folks 2 was officially announced at Wholesome Direct just now!! Here's the announcement, including a small introduction to the team and I:And as the game will obviously also release on Steam, make sure to wishlist the game immediately:Hidden Folks 2 looks like and builds upon the original game in every regard: the art style, the miniature landscapes, the gameplay, the cheeky jokes, and the mouth-made sounds. True to the original, the game is all about exploring the little stories scattered throughout each landscape, without time limits or any pressure to score points. The sequel features completely new themes and areas, improved graphical quality, a second (not text!) clue for those in need, lots of new mouth-made sounds, and various quality-of-life improvements.Our intention is to release Hidden Folks 2 in the first few months of 2027, with at least 3 themes and each with 3 to 5 areas, on desktop, phones, and tablets (and maybe on Nintendo Switch, if there's demand?). Hey folks!Game designer Adriaan typing here. It's been a while since you last heard from me and a LOT has happened since the release of Hidden Folks! I released a bunch of other games, had a kid, and more recently co-founded a new studio with the familiar name Hidden Folks to build more playful, accessible, and curiosity-invoking black & white games within The Hidden Folks Universe. We are 4 people now, wild!… which brings me to the point of this message: we are working on something, and we'll announce it soon. Hey folks! Even though many of you are waiting for MORE Hidden Folks (we hear you!) and even though we may soon have more announcements on that (this is nearly turning into a joke, isn't it), Adriaan wanted to mention that he just released Rift Riff!!! It's a very, very different game from Hidden Folks (as per usual with every game he designs): Rift Riff is a tower defense game with a strategic mix of juicy tower loadouts, varied monster behaviors, and forgiving mechanics. It's much less 'casual' than Hidden Folks, so it may not be for everyone who's waiting for more Hidden Folks, but Adriaan still poured his heart and soul into it. Hidden Folks never needed instruments to be musical. This week, the hidden object sketchbook goes On Tour, bringing its quirky vocals to muddy festivals, basement discos and the studio floor. It’s free, too, along with all of Hidden Folks’ previously-released DLC – at the cost of making the charming monochrome pixel-hunt a little pricier for newcomers. (more…)
