This is the biggest update in Afterdepth's history. Two big things arrive together: the entire game is now rendered with GPU shaders — the largest visual change since launch — and Afterdepth now has full mod support, with Steam Workshop. The shader migration started back in December. It was the longest thing I've ever built for this game, and it's only now finished. But it didn't stop there. The caves came alive too. A NEW GAME FOR YOUR EYES Rendering was moved entirely to the GPU, with shaders written specifically for this game. The difference is immediate: Water, lava and acid styled by shader. Liquids stopped being blocks of color: they gained depth, motion and edges of their own.Lava and acid actually light the room. The light map now runs on the GPU with emissive glow — a pool of lava on the floor lights up the entire cave.Soft shadows. Light occlusion went from a single ray to four rays spread across the source's disc. No more blocky shadow edges snapped to the grid: this is real penumbra.Rare minerals glint when light passes across them.Gas and haze with GPU-rendered clouds and a cutoff at breathable level. A new update is now available for Afterdepth, bringing improvements to controls, movement, and overall gameplay feel. Creative Mode (Early Version)Creative Mode is now functional and can be played using both mouse & keyboard and gamepads. This is an early implementation and will continue to evolve in future updates.
