The leaderboards have absolutely blown up over the last few days, with hundreds of new runs showing up, and it's been really cool watching everyone fight their way through them. I also appreciate all of the supportive comments people have been leaving on the patch notes, discussions, and discord too, thank you all massively! I'm incredibly thankful to everyone giving the game a shot. This is the first patch since Into the Void, mostly cleaning up bugs and a few things that have come up since the update. Thank you as always for all the reports and feedback. I read through them and they help a ton :) What I usually do is handle bugs as they come up, but save most balance changes for the end of the month since people are busy pushing the leaderboards. Hey all, Big day today. Katanaut is featured in Steam's Daily Deal, and update 1.2 is going live alongside it. This is the biggest update I've shipped since launch, and I timed it for today on purpose, since a lot of you might be trying the game for the first time. If that's you, welcome! The short version of what's new: Warp 4, a difficulty that runs the entire station in reverse with elites hunting you the whole way down. Added a new soon-to-be-dreaded level called "The Warp". Samaelix, a new final boss, with a new ending behind him. New enemies, new tricks for a bunch of the old ones, and a big skill tree that lets you upgrade every katana in the game. On top of that there's new music, new achievements, new lore notes, a pile of quality of life, and a sweeping balance pass over every enemy and boss in the game that makes climbing into higher warps way more attainable. I read all of it, and it directly shapes what gets fixed :) If you've been enjoying Katanaut, please consider leaving a review on Steam. Speaking of big updates: next month Katanaut is getting a large content update that I've been preparing for a while now. More on that soon ;) Also, a little secret for the leaderboard hunters. If you want to join the "cheat" runs on the leaderboard without grinding out unlocks first, walk around the home base and type "pudding" on your keyboard. A hidden room will open up with free weapons and gear to build a loadout from. Using it marks your run as assisted, so your time lands in the "cheat" section of the leaderboard and the main board stays legit. Core: - The minimap opens larger now when
