When you are in your village and an NPC is missing you can open the settings scteen to reset your village. Be warned that all quest progress is lost. So, clear out your inventory, grab the biggest coin purse you can find, and make sure your ember lantern is at max capacity before venturing into this mysterious, treasure-filled desert.
