Salve, Centurion!We are continuing our work on the first major update for Summa Expeditionis since the release of version 1.0.In previous development diaries, we introduced some of the content and improvements coming with the new Greece campaign. Today, we want to talk about a system that will bring more life to the camp and the men who inhabit it: the new dialogue system.A Camp That SpeaksIn the upcoming update, dialogue will appear in speech bubbles above the characters. Each line will first be displayed in Latin, followed shortly afterwards by a translation into the player’s chosen language.This format allows conversations to become part of the game world without interrupting gameplay. Soldiers will be able to speak while working, resting or moving around the camp, making their words feel like a natural part of what is happening around you.Latin will remain an important part of the atmosphere, while the translation will allow you to follow every conversation clearly.Dialogue That Responds to Your CampaignWhat the characters say will depend on the context of each expedition.NPCs will react to past events, the condition of the camp and their own needs. Our goal is to make it easier to organise work, locate resources and understand what is happening at any given moment. We are also adding the ability to relocate your entire camp.Task ManagementThe new task menu provides a complete overview of the work being carried out in your camp.From this screen, you will be able to check which tasks are in progress, which ones are waiting in the queue and which problems are slowing down production. It will also tell you when a task cannot be completed because a required tool or resource is missing.This will make it easier to identify bottlenecks, adjust priorities and distribute work more efficiently among your men.QuartermasterThe new Quartermaster screen brings together every item, resource and piece of equipment that belongs to your camp.You will be able to see what you have, where each item is located and whether it has been placed in storage. The menu will also display the condition of your storage buildings and their remaining cap

Here's what's new in v1.0.2 👇🎖️ Promotions & Ranks (NEW)- Promote your soldiers: you can now promote the veterans of your contubernium. Raise their veteran rank (Legionarius → Evocatus → Veteranus) and appoint officers (Signifer, Tesserarius, Optio), either from the contubernium view, the character sheet, or just by talking to them.- They have to earn it: a soldier has to be *ready*, proven in his attributes and combat skills, before you can bump his rank. Hover the rank to see if he's there yet.- Chain of command: officers follow a strict ladder, and no soldier can ever reach your level. You only appoint officers below your own rank (you're the Centurion). You can replace an existing officer, but it demotes him and costs him morale.- A gift worthy of the honor: every promotion asks for an offering: food, materials, and a carved idol of the soldier's patron god (wooden for veterans, clay for officers).
