Lacuna – A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure

Hi, everyone!This is Julian from DigiTales. As we do every year, we'd like to once again commemorate Lacuna's release anniversary in some way. The game came out on PC five (!) years ago today, and holds a special place in our hearts as our very first project.However, unlike the previous years, this commemoration comes with a major addition to the game, easily the most requested feature ever since it came out: a chapter selection menu!What we've been up toI gather some of you are wondering why this is being added now. It's Been 84 YearsWe didn't initially add chapter selection because it goes somewhat against the game's core philosophy that your choices matter and that the playthrough you get is your unique story. However, a lot of people just want to play the game differently and explore various branches. The absence of the feature also made the lives of achievement hunters unnecessarily hard. Ultimately, adding it does not take anything away from those who want to play Lacuna once from start to finish, and without going back.The other reason for the timing is that DigiTales was in rough shape at times over the past few years. Although it’s never mentioned in the game (as far as we remember), the band is called Romp House. To celebrate Lacuna’s imminent three-year release anniversary, we have a little gift for your: Their five in-game songs from the Lacuna OST were just released for free online! You can find the Romp House mini album on Bandcamp, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and SoundCloud among other places. Our composer Julian originally wrote this music for fun with a friend to dip his toes into Synthwave music. This happened in parallel to developing Lacuna, without intending to ever combine the two. However, when the project with his friend fizzled out, he decided to use a handful of tracks (there are quite a few more!) inside the game. We hope you like the music! We are incredibly thankful for all the positive feedback we received for our first game Lacuna, and we really hope that Between Horizons can live up to your expectations. We learned a lot ever since Lacuna was released and did our best to apply all these lessons to our new game, providing you with enhanced and more unique detective gameplay. If you played Lacuna, don't expect the core gameplay loop to be the same -- you might be in for some surprises! Since we're big sci-fi fans (The Expanse, anyone?), we also wanted to create a detective game with an even higher focus on the sci-fi theme. And thus, the idea for Between Horizons was born. Fellow detectives, we are thrilled to announce that our sci-fi detective adventure Between Horizons will launch on March 25th, 2024! Time for you to hop on board of the generation ship Zephyr, and take on the role of Stella - the newly assigned Chief of Security. Dive into the conspiracy behind the incident that threatens to disrupt the Zephyr’s social order and foil its mission.
